Welcome to FSYOldies. This is a new system that helps former players and others who have been involved with the various Southampton Youth Orchestras (and their predecessors) keep in touch. Celebrations in the last few years such as those for SYO's 40th birthday, for musical director Keith Smith's 25th anniversary, and most recently musical director Joan Male's retirement, have highlighted just how many young musicians have come through the ranks over nearly 5 decades.
Anyone can see who is already registered, by clicking List All. To add your own details for the first time, click Register.
When you register, you are invited to give either a phone number or email address. However, if you would prefer not to have these details published, you can nominate some other method of making contact, such as Friends Reuinted or a social network site. You should also take a moment to read through the Information page beforehand.
Thanks to everyone who has registered so far. This has been a tremendous start, and we hope that it's proving useful. If you are in touch with other former members of any orchestra (not just SYO), please ask them to join as well. There are some group photos on the Gallery page.
Apologies also to those of you who had the last few characters of their email addresses lopped off. If you now return to your record, you will find an extended email field in which you can make any corrections!
To amend your record, you must be logged in. If you have previously registered by setting up your FSYOldies details, enter either your name (as given previously) or your reference number, plus your password, and click Confirm.
Please note that if your FSYOldies session is left inactive for too long, it may time out and you will have to log in again.
You may like to know that the SYOs Archive, which includes photos, posters, programmes and orchestra lists, is now held at Taunton's College with the music library. It is hoped that in due course some of these will be available to view online. For more information, please contact one of the Committee. |
